The LoL Fantasy Champion Picks Week 8 Spring 2020 article is a helpful resource for determining which Champion’s you should pick for your Captain each week.
If you are unsure how captains work, we recommend reading up on our Scoring System.
For Newbies:
There are 148 Champions in League of Legends. At the start of each match players take it in turn to pick Champions they want to play, and ban Champions they don’t want their opponents to play.

TOP LANE CHAMPIONS
LEC ANALYSIS
Most Played
Aatrox – 29 times (2 games last week)
Sett – 26 times (6 games last week)
Gangplank – 21 times (4 games last week)
Analysis for Captain
Could it be that Aatrox is fading out of the meta? Last week Sett was picked 6 games, he has been trending up week on week and he feels like a viable pick, even over Aatrox! Gangplank is worth picking too, I would further investigate into your Captains Champion pool, not every Top Laner can play Gangplank well.
LCS ANALYSIS
Most Played
Aatrox – 38 times (6 games last week)
Sett – 25 times (3 games last week)
Ornn – 15 times (4 game last week)
Analysis for Captain
Aatrox is so hard to steer away from in the LCS, he is the most picked Champion out of all positions so I would continue to pick him. I don’t see this changing, even with his horrible win rate of 34%.
JUNGLE CHAMPIONS
LEC ANALYSIS
Most Played
Gragas – 32 times (8 games last week)
Lee Sin – 30 times (4 games last week)
Jarvan IV/Sejuani – 14 times
Analysis for Captain
Grags has been such a staple Champion for the LEC, I don’t see this changing either. His hard engage and burst damage makes him so potent in any lineup. Continue picking Gragas this week, the only thing that will stop him now is a solid nerf as you’ve noticed in the LoL Fantasy Champion Picks Week 8 Spring 2020.
LCS ANALYSIS
Most Played
Lee Sin – 36 times (6 games last week)
Gragas – 23 times (4 games last week)
Jarvan IV – 22 times (1 game last week)
Analysis for Captain
Lee Sin, he is a must for the LCS. His ability to move around the map and set up kills has been too hard to avoid for the LCS teams. I would continue picking him, unless your Captain is a good Gragas player.
MID LANE CHAMPIONS
LEC ANALYSIS
Most Played
LeBlanc – 18 times (2 games last week)
Azir – 14 times (3 games last week)
Zoe – 13 times (0 games last week)
Analysis for Captain
Avoid. Picking an LEC Mid Laner as Captain is useless because of the lack of consistency in the picks.
LCS ANALYSIS
Most Played
Zoe – 27 times (6 games last week)
Syndra – 21 times (4 games last week)
Orianna – 16 times (1 game last week)
Analysis for Captain
ZOEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, she has been doing serious work on the rift. I feel she may have a nerf coming in the future, but for now I’d pick her or Syndra (especially on players like Bjergsen).
BOT LANE CHAMPIONS
LEC ANALYSIS
Most Played
Aphelios – 39 times (8 games last week)
Miss Fortune – 31 times (4 games last week)
Senna – 17 times (1 game last week)
Analysis for Captain
Aphelios or Miss Fortune. Very e z.
LCS ANALYSIS
Most Played
Aphelios – 33 times (6 games last week)
Miss Fortune – 28 times (7 games last week)
Senna– 20 times (0 games last week)
Analysis for Captain
Same as the LEC “Aphelios or Miss Fortune. Very e z.” The same theme continues in the LoL Fantasy Champion Picks Week 8 Spring 2020.
SUPPORT CHAMPIONS
LEC ANALYSIS
Most Played
Braum – 34 times (6 games last week)
Nautilus– 31 times (7 games last week)
Rakan – 24 times (2 games last week)
Analysis for Captain
Braum and Nautilus are the key favorites here, both can start a fight and peel for the Bot Laners which is key in the current Bot Lane meta.
LCS ANALYSIS
Most Played
Tahm Kench – 29 times (4 games last week)
Nautilus – 26 times (5 games last week)
Rakan/Thresh– 18 times (1 game last week)
Analysis for Captain
Tahm and Nautilus are the favorites for LCS Supports. I do have some concerns about picking Tahm Kench as he only has a 40% win rate, and now that Cloud9 has secured top spot, Vulcan won’t be playing him as much and he accounts for a large share of Tahms wins.
THE WRAP UP
There has been a lot of debate about which role is the best to pick for a Captain. When deciding which player you want to choose as Captain I would recommend weighing the average score, variation of Champion in the role and whether Champions are consistent between the LEC and LCS.
