Top Scorers: Week 8

What is the Top Scorer article?

Wow! Glad you asked…the Top Scorer article highlights the 6 players/team from each role that scored the highest fantasy points from the previous week. In this case, we’ll be looking at the LoL Fantasy Top Scorers for Week 8 Spring 2020.

Analysis From Week 8

Week 8 was the return of the G2 empire and the fall of the C9 dynasty. With Cloud9 pulling so far ahead in the standings, they relaxed a bit and their normally dominate victories weren’t so dominate. Meanwhile, G2 solidified their first place spot with two dominate wins over Rogue and Excel.

TOP LANE

Top 5 Scorers

Top 5 Overview

The top scorers for top lane really set the mood for what teams we’ll be seeing in the other positions, with the majority being LEC teams. Maybe it was the move to online that caused LEC teams to play more like it’s scrims? Broken Blade had another good performance, and Ruin sneaked his way in despite an 0-2 weekend.

Top Scorer

Bwipo was the standout player on Fnatic in Week 8. Only him and Rekkles made the top 5 out of all the Fnatic players. Bwipo’s combined KDA of 9-2-12 made him a shoe in on a week where the other top laners really didn’t do all that well in comparison.

JUNGLE

Top 5 Scorers

Top 5 Overview

The top 5 junglers this week was a weird one. 4 LEC players and Akaadian from Dignitas. The most noteworthy thing about this list is the huge gap between 1st place and the rest of the players.

Top Scorer

Week 8 was by far Jankos‘ best week in the Spring Split. He played Pantheon both games, and had an incredible combined KDA of 16-1-23. Thank whoever’s idea it was at Riot to add execute damage to Pantheon’s quick charged spear.

MID LANE

Top 5 Scorers

Top 5 Overview

Normally, Perkz is at the top of the list when G2 goes 2-0 on a weekend, but that wasn’t the case for the LoL Fantasy Top Scorers of Week 8 Spring 2020. Another thing to note is Ryoma snagging the number 5 spot despite 100T‘s 1-1 weekend (he had a great game against Flyquest).

Top Scorer

Abbedagge claimed the top spot with a nearly flawless weekend on Azir and Corki (everyone’s favorite champs to watch! /s). Clearly, the straighforward front-to-back damage dealing playstyle of those champions suited Abbedagge well in Week 8.

BOT LANE

Top 5 Scorers

Top 5 Overview

Once again, 4 LEC players, and one LCS player. The odd man out this time is Zven, who would normally be higher on the list if Cloud9 wasn’t experimenting with new picks in Week 8.

Top Scorer

G2’s games in Week 8 felt more like scrims than real professional games, and this benefited their fantasy scoring quite nicely. Caps played Taliyah and Ziggs, champs that can be part of a fight halfway across the map, which allowed him to be apart of all the kills that were happening (and there were alot of kills to be had).

SUPPORT

Top 5 Scorers

Top 5 Overview

Week 8’s top 5 supports can be attributed to a combination of clean play that focused on getting assists, as well as some bard players that generated their own points and left their bot laners behind. Mikyx and Vulcan both played Bard, whereas Kaiser, Destiny, and Zeyzal played a more traditional support.

Top Scorer

The bloodthirsty nature of both of G2’s games is really what set Mikyx apart from the other support in Week 8. More kills = more assists, and Mikyx had no troubles capitalizing on this fact versus Rogue and Excel.

TEAM

Top 5 Scorers

Top 5 Overview

As usual, the teams with the absolute highest scoring players didn’t automatically become the highest scoring teams overall. Also, once again it’s four LEC teams and one LCS team (but hey the LCS team is tied for first this time!).

Top Scorer

Evil Geniuses and MAD Lions tied for first in Week 8, and they both arrived here by playing incredibly clean League of Legends. In all of their games, they destroyed every tower on the rift, and secured at least 4 dragons. Textbook stuff.
