Bargain Shopping: Week 7

What is Bargain Shopping?

Once you have picked your star players, the hardest part is to find cheap players that will still score well. We write the LoL Fantasy Bargain Shopping Week 7 Spring 2020 to help find those diamonds in the rough!

How Does it Work?

Each week, we recommend the best value player (by role) to pick in the following two price ranges:
$250,000 – $200,000
≤ $200,000

TOP LANE BARGAINS

$250,000 - $200,000

Player: Impact (Team Liquid)

Cost: $240,0000

Opponents: CLG & IMT

Reasoning: Don’t look now, but Liquid finally seems to be catching wind in their sails. I’m picking Impact to string together 2 strong performances against a pair of teams that, unlike Liquid, seem to be sinking. His role opponents, Ruin and sOAZ, are unlikely to pose much of a threat to Impact during the laning phase. We might even get to see him play a carry role, as he’s found 5 kills in 3 of his last 5 games.

≤ $200,000

Player: Odoamne (FC Schalke 04)

Cost: $150,0000

Opponents: MAD & SK

Reasoning: Odoamne has quietly been back to his consistent old self the past few weeks. After averaging a 1.35 KDA ratio in his first 6 games (with FORG1VEN), he has averaged 4.22 KDA in his last 6 (with Innaxe). He is not likely to play a starring role, but I think Schalke has a good chance to get 10+ kills in both games this weekend, and Odo can benefit.

JUNGLE BARGAINS

$250,000 - $200,000

Player: Inspired (Rogue)

Cost: $240,000

Opponents: VIT & MAD

Reasoning: Ironically, I think Inspired has been a pretty uninspiring fantasy player so far this split. Even though Rogue has plenty of talent on their roster, it does not feel like Inspired has been able to really sync well with the team and really take control. However, Inspired is a plenty skilled and smart player on his own, and he has been consistent and solid. He has over 9 kills+assists in 6 of his 12 games this split. Rogue’s schedule this weekend is comfortable, too. Vitality should be a free win, and I think Rogue is the favorite against MAD Lions as well.

≤ $200,000

Player: Xmithie (Immortals)

Cost: $190,0000

Opponents: 100 & TL

Reasoning: Players normally tend to do better when their team wins, but few have performances as dependent on winning as Xmithie. He has a 11/12/47 K/D/A in the games Immortals have won, but just a 3/24/12 K/D/A in the games they have lost. Fortunately, Immortals are against teams who are 5-7 and 6-6 this weekend. Liquid isn’t the easiest opponent, but Xmithie was 2/0/8 against his former team the last time they faced each other.

MID LANE BARGAINS

$250,000 - $200,000

Player: Froggen (Dignitas)

Cost: $230,0000

Opponents: 100 & GG

Reasoning: Dignitas has already had a 3 game winning streak AND two 3 game losing streaks this split, so backing them feels a bit risky. They are against 2 teams with the same record as them as well. But as they look to make a playoff push, I expect Froggen to show his experience against ry0ma and Froggen’s former understudy Goldenglue this weekend. As an added bonus, his Orianna seems like a relatively safe champion pick.

≤ $200,000

Player: Eika (Immortals)

Cost: $180,0000

Opponents: 100 & TL

Reasoning: Eika shook off a bad game against Golden Guardians and had his best game of the season against CLG (fantasy wise). If Immortals continue to embrace a scrappier style with bot laner Apollo, Eika will see a spike in his fantasy value. It’s also encouraging to see another champion besides Syndra that he can consistently perform well with, in Cassiopeia.

BOT LANE BARGAINS

$250,000 - $200,000

Player: Innaxe (FC Schalke 04)

Cost: $240,0000

Opponents: MAD & SK

Reasoning: Innaxe was able to put up 43.44 fantasy points last week, and that was against Origen and Fnatic. If he can still find a way to be productive against that tough of a schedule, I think he should have a clear path to some big points this week. The MAD Lions match-up isn’t great, but Schalke 04 have been keeping up with their opponents lately and the upset is very possible. On the other hand, the SK match-up is GREAT. SK have lost 6 straight games, and Innaxe and Schalke should be able to crush that game.

≤ $200,000

Player: Johnsun (Dignitas)

Cost: $200,0000

Opponents: 100 & GG

Reasoning: This was a pretty easy choice, for the LoL Fantasy Bargain Shopping Week 7 Spring 2020, as there are only 2 starting bot laners who are available at this price point: DIG Johnsun and SK Crownshot. Johnsun is a bit streaky, but he’s had some high performance games this split, and Dignitas has a fair chance to win in both of their upcoming games. I’ll gladly take a bot laner with a oodg chance to go 2-0 at this value.

SUPPORT BARGAINS

$250,000 - $200,000

Player: IgNar (Flyquest)

Cost: $210,0000

Opponents: EG & TSM

Reasoning: Flyquest have established themselves as the clear cut 2nd best team in NA this split. IgNar is their main teamfight initiator, and he is a perfect fit for that role. Both games Flyquest have this week are almost certainly going to be bloody, and IgNar should be in line for quite a few assists, and perhaps even a few kills (especially if he picks Blitzcrank again). He could even gain extra fantasy value if he gets to farm his lane for his CS, as Wildturtle has already played Senna 5 times this split.

≤ $200,000

Player: Tore (Excel Esports)

Cost: $120,0000

Opponents: MSF & VIT

Reasoning:  Our LoL Fantasy Bargain Shopping Week 7 Spring 2020 would be amazed if Excel didn’t continue their trend of mediocrity this week. Tore has been able to rack up double digit assists in every game that Excel have won, except for their most recent win at S04. I think it’s pretty rare to see such a safe reliable 20 fantasy points be so inexpensive at this role, but I’ll take it. There is certainly more on the table for Tore, too.

TEAM BARGAINS

$250,000 - $200,000

Player: Rogue

Cost: $240,0000

Opponents: VIT & MAD

Reasoning: Rogue is a good team for fantasy. They get dragons, herald, and baron all 54% of the time. They get first blood 58% of the time, and first tower 83% of the time. I’m taking them as a lead pipe cinch to deliver some useful fantasy objectives in both games this weekend. They simply outclass Vitality, their first opponent. Whether or not they win their match again MAD Lions, that game is going to be crucial for playoffs, and I fully expect Rogue to give nothing up for free in that contest. I consider them the favorite in that one, too.

≤ $200,000

Player: Dignitas

Cost: $170,0000

Opponents: 100 & GG

Reasoning: Unlike Rogue, Dignitas normally is not a very good team for fantasy. They have a below 50% rate of securing any fantasy objective. However, here’s why this pick makes sense: Dignitas’ opponents are similarly bad. 100 Thieves also secure 50% or less of every objective. Golden Guardians are actually a rather decent team, but Dignitas’ laners are much stronger. I really feel confident Dignitas can 2-0 this week, and that would almost certainly mean an uncharacteristically good week from the team pick. Dignitas will likely be worth the value even if the team goes 1-1.
